The Essence of Design

Designer Yu Li Min, a visual artist specialized in textile arts, expresses in each rug a unique communion between colors and forms rich in details that evoke the tropical atmosphere of Brazilian Modernism: an incredible fusion of generations, traditions, and origins. The Studio by Kamy adapted the "Tropicália" design, created by the artist, to craft a high tapestry piece in natural and dyed cowhide and leather. The fragments are meticulously repurposed, cut, and hand-stitched, transforming discards into art. The leather and hide used are a by-product of the meat and apparel markets, ensuring the sustainable use of material discarded after slaughter. This complex and talented "puzzle" is executed in the by Kamy atelier, highlighting the skill and expertise of the artisans. Due to the nature of the different repurposed fragments, each Tropicália piece is intrinsically unique.
